OUR STORY

In the heart of Kingdom sits a 9,500 ft wooden and glass, uniquely structured Clubhouse which features stunning 360-degree views across the Kent countryside. Born from destruction, this unique and enchanting 13-acre woodland is dreamy and earthy, yet utterly romantic- not at all what it once was…

At Kingdom we strive to unite communities whilst creating a safe place for people to nourish, flourish and celebrate, surrounded by extraordinary nature. We wish to create stories and memories for those who visit, providing you with a space to connect with yourself and others. With an inspiring story sitting at the heart of Kingdom, we aim to inspire all those within our community…

THE HISTORY

On the 15th of October 1987, The Great Storm hit England, causing a violent, extratropical cyclone which resulted in around 15 million trees being blown down.

South-East England was where the greatest damage occurred, with gusts of 70 knots or more continually being recorded for over 4 hours. Where Kingdom sits now is where the epicentre of the disaster was resulting in the woodland being completely flattened.

The woodland which surrounds Kingdom was completely destroyed, with the infamous weather wiping out many of the trees and it was with these fallen trees that Kingdom was born and made…

The then owner saw the detrimental impact the storm had and decided to turn this destruction into something very special. This is when he began building the wooden clubhouse from those same trees which had been blown down. This was originally used for the cycling club which many of you will be familiar with, although in 2015 it was bought and morphed into the beautiful glass and wooden clubhouse it is today, providing each visitor with a truly magical and enchanting feel.

Within this woodland remains the Seven Sisters largest living tree in the British Isles- which is our truly special and unique feature for our Weddings here, being our ‘Love Nest’, where couples say ‘I do’ beneath the tree in a simply gorgeous and magical setting.
